FASHION SHOW - PART 1

For a few months, we have been working with a class of 17-year-old business school students. We had to find them a topic to develop. Something has always been close to our hearts: recycling and ecology. The topic was found: how to recycle all the scraps of test knitting that we make before sending our machines to our customers. It always breaks our hearts to throw them away to burn them. We had already tried to offer them to various seamstresses in the region, it had worked a little, but not enough in our opinion, because we still had to throw some away. We had also offered them to companies in the region that use used textiles to make soundproof partitions for example. Either the material was not right, or we were told that we do not produce enough kilos... These students managed to contact stylists and designers. We are looking forward to seeing the result. In the meantime, a fashion show was organized by TheArk (the Foundation promoting innovation), only with various recycled materials from several companies in the region (PET, electronics, IT, cardboard packaging, aeronautics, textiles, etc.). Our students have won a check for CHF 1`000, congratulations ! Look at the blue dress, only made with our knitting scraps ! Enjoy these beautiful images and next videos ! The textile industry plays a strategic role in Bangladesh’s economy, contributing over 88% of total export earnings. As a driving force in the economy, the sector has reinvented itself to improve living conditions, reduce poverty and promote gender equality across the country.
However, the Bangladeshi textile industry faces major challenges: ensuring political stability, preserving social peace, coping with the shortage of skilled labour and competing with low-cost countries. To address these challenges, textile companies are investing in sustainability, improving working conditions and integrating advanced technologies to maintain their leading position in the global market.
In this spirit, Steiger and its partner Cixing organised an exclusive evening, bringing together 600 customers around a demonstration of machines capable of knitting 3D items. This event was enriched by a fashion show showcasing creations designed and knitted in our Shanghai design centre. This successful evening of sharing marks an important step in strengthening our presence in this strategic market.
